Our priorities in 2026

Our members have set the following vision for 2026.

  1. Support community food access initiatives such as the North Park Community Market and the expansion of an accessible food pantry.

  2. Collaborate with elected officials, the North River Commission, and neighborhood residents to lobby Northeastern Illinois University to develop or sell its eminent domain properties on Bryn Mawr.

  3. Coordinate support for homeless families at the Foster Avenue shelter to meet both material and volunteer needs.

  4. Engage neighborhood business owners to facilitate collaboration, bring positive attention and increase foot traffic, and launch a Business Improvement District (BID) to promote local businesses.

  5. Collaborate with the Department of Planning and Development and 39th Ward Alderman Samantha Nugent on a City-led, comprehensive plan to inventory community assets, solicit input from residents and businesses, and identify opportunities and public and private funding sources for coordinated development and improvement of the neighborhood.
