Request for Zoning Variances at
5800 N. Kimball
[back to the Zoning page]
Bais Yaakov High School, which currently operates a 200-student Jewish school for girls at the corner of Kimball and Ardmore, is seeking a set of zoning variances that will allow them to build an addition to the school that would accommodate approximately 100 more students. You can see the full plans here.
Current drop-off and pick-up zones on Kimball and Ardmore would be maintained. The number of parking spaces for cars in the school's lot would be decreased; bicycle parking would be increased. The HVAC infrastructure currently on the roof of the existing building (a former synagogue) would be moved underneath the roof of the new structure.
School leaders say that expansion will allow the school to continue operating at its current location. They report no plans to expand beyond the current proposal.
This proposal was discussed at the HNPCA Quarterly Meeting on August 26, 2025. Detailed minutes can be viewed here. HNPCA members can express their opinions via the member survey by September 12, 2025. All community members are encouraged to contact Alderman Samantha Nugent's office if they have questions or comments.
