This property has a new owner who intends to run a business called Sweetest Moments Bake Shop and Events.

 

She seeks to maintain B3-2 zoning in order to obtain a special use permit for a venue space for birthday parties, baby showers, bridal showers, holiday parties, or corporate events. This venue space will occupy the front of the building.

The rear of the building will contain a commercial baking kitchen for special event orders (not a walk-in commercial space at the moment).

The zoning of this property will revert to B1-2 without support from the neighborhood. It was only recently up-zoned to B3-2 because the Association supported a change sought by a previous buyer of the property. The zoning change was granted in October 2025, but that purchase of the property ultimately fell through. Because this change had been approved on behalf of a specific business model, Alderperson Nugent is prepared to adjust the zoning back to B1-2 if the current proposal is not approved.
