Volunteer Opportunities

We compile local volunteer opportunities and list them here. Please click on a link to explore an opportunity further. If you would like to post an opportunity in the neighborhood, please reach out to us.

Nature & Gardening
  • HNPCA Green Team

    • Plan and implement events related to environmental sustainability.

  • LaBagh Woods/Forest Preserve District of Cook County

    • Join an inspiring movement of volunteers gathering to restore this special site along the Chicago River. Learn how to restore diverse wildlife, trees, wildflowers, and health to our forest preserves and river system. Help grow a community of caretakers!

Community
  • Bryn Mawr Block Party

    • Help us put on a street festival again! The Bryn Mawr Block Party combines the casual, welcoming feel of a block party with the best elements of a Chicago street festival: live music and performances, local restaurants and vendors, food trucks, and free kids' activities. Add to that our popular North Park Community Market, and you've got a fun day in the neighborhood for all ages! This year's Party is on September 15.

  • Family Support at 3034 West Foster

    • Asylum-seeking families are living at a City-managed shelter at the former Marine Corps facility on Foster. Send us a message at hnpca@hnpca.org to volunteer or to stay up-to-date.
  • North Park Community Market

    • Help set up and/or take down tables, tents, and signs on a Market day. The Market takes place on the Peterson School Community Field on select Sundays from May to October.

  • People of North Park

    • Interview and/or photograph a neighbor as part of our multimedia project to tell the stories of the diverse people that make up our neighborhood.

Food Security
  • The Friendship Center

    • The Friendship Center (TFC) supports the food-insecure populations of Chicago’s northwest side neighborhoods like Albany Park, Lincoln Square, North Park, Ravenswood, and West Ridge, serving over 4,500 neighbors facing hunger each month.

  • North Park Community Market

    • Volunteer to support the Market's participation in the SNAP program to ensure that customers can use LINK/EBT cards to afford a range of natural food products. The Market takes place on the Peterson School Community Field on select Sundays from May to October.
